Achilleas Martinis, a junior at High School who has been playing the guitar since a very young age, has decided to help through music, unaccompanied refugee minors in Greece who experience a completely different and much more difficult everyday life than ordinary children. To give life to his idea, Achilleas collaborated with charity and non-profit organization "Panos & Cressida 4 Life", with a rich philanthropic work in the last 11 years. For the design of the musical program, Achilleas asked the support of two distinguished music teachers, Mr. Alexandros Kalkos on the guitar and Mrs. Tina Konstantinidou on the piano. With the kind support of Mrs. Tina Konstantinidou and Panos & Cressida 4 Life, Achilleas, he attracted in his project some remarkable young artists, both professional and non-professional, who accepted to participate in the concert by singing and playing piano, guitar, violin, and cello.
In memory of Panos Vardakas, a young man who struggled vigorously against incurable illness, in 2006 "Panos & Cressida 4 Life" was founded as a non-profit organization ("Panos4Life") by Panos' close friends and relatives. In 2010, the organization expanded its concept to include the memory of Chryssida Spahi, Panos' close friend, who also died at a very young age.
Revenues collected by the charitable and non-profit organization "Panos & Cressida 4 Life" from subscriptions, donations and events have been offered to assist non-privileged children and young people. Among the organization's objectives is to support children suffering from cancer or other serious illnesses, addiction, violence or abandonment or children living in remote areas with inadequate educational infrastructure. The organization also provides scholarships to educate, socially integrate and develop the talents of children with financial and other personal problems.
The actions of "Panos & Cressida 4 Life", which after 2011 have been focusing on providing support mainly in Greece, are shown in detail at www.panosandcressida4life.org. In summary, in its 11 years of operation, "Panos & Cressida 4 Life" has funded the construction of a nursery school for 150 children in Malindi, Kenya, a residence for teachers in Nepal's isolated mountainous region, basketball courts in Karpathos and a 5x5 football court in Kasos, a volleyball court at Thebes juvenile prisons, playgrounds in the burned village of Ilia and the remote Argiri Argitheas, as well as many sports and educational facilities in institutions that accommodate children with special needs in less-favored areas of Greece.
